Great blog Kalen! I spent an hour catching up on your past posts. You should get the link out there somehow, I think a lot of people in our industry would be interested. Keep up the good work and give us some more info like you did in the interview with Scott. It was technical but short, great info!

Thanks for the comments. I didn't realize the LinkedIn discussion wasn't able to be viewed so I apologize. I guess I can't complain about privacy controls.

I will be posting an update in the next week or so. We are still looking for a solution to minimze the ergonomic impact. Fortunately, the operators are happier with the 4 hour shifts.

Unfortunately, automotive PPAPs tie our hands on making major changes to the processing of this specific part, but we have used Kaizen events in the past to improve our production.

Kalen -

The link for the LinkedIn discussion only works if you are a member of that group on the site, maybe you can pull the most important points out in a summary for us non-lean group guys. I like your idea of limiting the amount of time at the cell, I got dizzy just watching her walk in circles. It could be a good opportunity to develop a multi-functional workforce, assuming during the other 4 hours of the shift she is working in another cell, that hopefully doesn't rotate clockwise. Also it would be great if you could get a solution from those working the cell, get a little kaizen action going. Even if it isn't the best solution it can drive operator buy-in. Keep us updated on the solution!
